Rising Costs and New Visa Rules Reshape Russian Business Travel
Business travel into Russia has risen 38% in cost while foreign trip volume doubled, according to Rus Tourism News.

The cost line — read carefully
The reported 38% surge and the parallel doubling of inbound trips come from a headline summary only. Underlying methodology, the comparison period, and any category breakdown are not in the published material. Treat the figure as a directional signal, not a confirmed index. What it does demand procedurally: rebuild inbound budgets with a buffer above last cycle, and reissue rate requests to any vendor whose quotes are more than 90 days old. APEC offset for multi-leg itineraries
A separate development directly affects Russia-based business mobility. At the APEC Business Mobility Group meeting in Dalian, August 23–24, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore announced that ABTC holders will be permitted stays of up to 90 days, up from the current 60. Each economy will set its own implementation date; no common timeline was published.
Russia is one of 19 full ABTC participants. For Russian passport holders pre-cleared by these five destinations, the extension expands permissible windows for regional rotations and Asia-to-Russia multi-leg trips. The card remains a travel-document supplement, not a residence permit. Work rights and local employment are not conferred by ABTC status.

- Canada and the United States are transitional members. ABTC does not waive standard visa or eTA requirements for either.
