The first five-star hotel in Russia with traditions that go back to the year 1824. The hotel was renovated in 1991. A part of Belmond deluxe hotel chain, the five-story, 301-room hotel is fully comparable to Western standards of excellence. The classic hotel has an atmosphere steeped in Tsarist traditions with its well-preserved Art Nouveau architecture and original style interior decorations. In fact, the hotel is classified as being State-protected, a building of historical and cultural significance. Its restaurants and banqueting rooms are ornately decorated with exquisite works of art. The hotel is located right in the heart of St. Petersburg - on the elegant Mikhailovskaya street connecting the main city avenue Nevsky prospect with beautiful Arts Square. The side facades of the building overlook Nevsky Prospekt and Arts Square.
Cozy and elegant bar is to the left of the reception. The Promenade continues to the newly opened oriental "AZIA" restaurant. The house itself includes three restaurants and a bar. A variety of cuisine is available to suite any taste. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of the city on Nevsky Prospect, the main thoroughfare of the city, and it is only 30 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the train station.
Each of the 301 well-appointed rooms offers a full range of equipment and services including two telephones, air-conditioning and heating, radios, satellite TV channels, in-room safes, robes, mini-bars, and under floor heating in the bathrooms. For superior security the hotel uses a computer door lock system. Rooms also have additional amenities including large beds under soft down comforters.
Cozy SUPERIOR rooms overview the inner yard of the hotel or the Mezanine Cafe in the inner atrium of the building. These rooms feature mostly double beds. DELUXE rooms are more spacious and have king-size or twin beds. These overlook the Mikhailovskaya Street and the Arts Square.
TERRACE rooms are not large, they are located on the top floor of the hotel and offer unique views of St. Petersburg from a summer terraces which runs alongside the facade of the building. These rooms feature double beds. BELLE CHAMBRE rooms (or Junior Suites) are considered to be a prime accommodation, these rooms are very spacious and have large windows, equipped with king-size bed or queen-size twins. Living room with large bathroom is on the first level and the bedroom is upstairs. The bedroom has large bed and mansard window. CLASSIC and EXECITIVE suites have one bedroom and differ by size. Two beautiful presidential suites are called by names of two prominent architects LIDVALL and ROSSI. IMPERIAL suite is a combination of ROSSI suite with neighboring executive suite.
DINING / CONFERENCE FACILITIES:
The KRYSHA BALLROOM (Roof top in Russian), situated on the top floor of the hotel, with a striking stained-glass ceiling and adjoining foyer and terrace, is ideal for holding larger conferences and banquets. Maximum capacity is 180 guests for classroom, 270 guests for theatre style and 200 guests for round-table banquet. Meeting breaks and pre-dinner cocktails can be arranged at the KRYSHA TERRACE which offers a nice view of the rooftops of the city. Many of the Ballroom's features date back to the 19th century. It can be fully darkened for audio-visual presentations. The dinner of SIX Presidents, hosted by the former President Vladimir Putin, took place in the KRYSHA Ballroom on 7 June 2002.
A self-contained CONFERENCE CENTER for meetings, seminars and private functions consists of a spacious foyer for meeting breaks and 4 conference rooms: Pushkin, Gorky, Dostoevsky and Tchaikovsky room which is the largest (94 sq.m.) Tchaikovsky room can be splitted in two by dividing wall. All rooms have large windows to allow natural light and are ideal for meetings and presentations. In addition Gorky room has a mirror and decorative fireplace. BILLIARD ROOM is a cozy wood paneled room in Art Nouveau style ideal for small board meetings and highly private dinners. Capacity - 30 guests. LIDVALL ROOM is located one flight up from the reception and is the most elegant Art Nouveau room of the hotel. It provides an air of graceful charm. Perfect surrounding for private cocktails and private group check-in. MUSEUM room is adjacent for max. 8 guests.

The Europe Restaurant is a beautiful old gourmet restaurant with interior design from the beginning of this century. The restaurant has a beautiful painted glass roof. Five balconies and five chambre separees provide perfect ambience for a sophisticated lunch, dinner or cocktail. French and European specialties cuisine. A place for refined dining. Open daily for buffet breakfast and dinner.
CAVIAR BAR & RESTAURANT is located next to Le Europe and is an authentic Russian restaurant. Art Nouveau setting with marble decor, mirrors and fountain. The menu features a matchless selection of caviars and fine vodkas - ideal for feeling Russian. It can be privatized for private functions up to 50 guests.
Through the entire ground floor of the hotel runs the Promenade with an exclusive boutique, bureau de change and several restaurants. The first in the row is an elegant and relaxing ROSSI'S specializing on Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. Freshly prepared antipasti, homemade noodles and delicious desserts. Ideal for group and business lunches. Can be privatized for private group breakfast. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Next to ROSSI'S is CHOPSTICKS Chinese restaurant offering exquisite Szechwan and Cantonese specialties in an environment that is both authentic and intimate. A superb selection of Sushi is also offered. Oriental atmosphere enhanced by soft music, original porcelain statuettes and vases, and personnel in authentic Chinese dress. The last but not the least is the MEZZANINE CAFE located in the inner atrium of the building. It is a relaxing lounge with cozy sofas and armchairs. The Mezzanine Bar offers vast choice of drinks, light meals and pastries.
