Angleterre Hotel
This hotel has a prime location - right in the heart of St. Petersburg - next to the historical St. Isaac's Cathedral and Mariinsky Palace. Originally built as a hotel in 1898, the Angleterre was reopened in 1991 after a full reconstruction by a Finnish company. Purchased by Rocco Forte Hotels in 1997, the hotel has been completely refurbished by Olga Polizzi to the best four-star deluxe standards. The hotel now offers 193 beautifully designed rooms and suites, a new fitness center, treatment rooms and swimming pool, business center, executive floor with club lounge, ever-popular Borsalino Brasserie and elegant Gallery offering a stunning view of the Cathedral. Guests also can use the facilities at its adjacent sister property, the five-star Astoria Hotel, part of the Rocco Forte Hotels collection including Russian restaurant Davydov.
Being the only western-managed deluxe 4-star hotel located in the centre, Angleterre is popular with businessmen and leisure travelers. It is also an ideal place for meetings and conferences. Group planners are attracted by perfect location and excellent quality of rooms. Magnificent view is not the last to matter. Classic rooms (103) overlook the quiet interior garden with diamond-shaped skylights, while 49 superior rooms offer breath-taking view to St. Isaac's cathedral. 12 deluxe rooms two-leveled and look onto Malaya Morskaya Street. One-room junior suites (3) and two-room senator suites (2) feature king-size beds and also have a view to the cathedral.
The recent addition is 24 club rooms with a club lounge on the fifth floor of the hotel with free snacks and internet connection. Continental breakfast included in the room rate is served in the lounge, free newspapers & beverages. All rooms are of contemporary design with feature parquet flooring, white-off furniture, burgundy silky embroidered Volga linens from Russia with bedspreads, curtains and cushions. The built-in wardrobe is spacious. A comfortable armchair and glass table by the window offers and ideal place to relax. The writing desk has computer and modem sockets within easy access. Each room is supplied with climate control system, offer satellite and cable television, safe, mini-bar, direct dial telephone. All bathrooms are filled with Italian marble vanity units and glass shelving, hairdryer and toiletries. Fitness centre has a swimming pool and two saunas.
BORSALINO RESTAURANT
The Borsalino Brasserie was opened in December 1999. With combination of discreet booths and open piano bar and restaurant the guests can choose to be seen or hide away for a quiet meal. Attentive service and innovative cuisine are combined with Russian hospitality and traditional meals. A recent addition has been to produce classic Italian pizzas created by top Italian pizza-maker Guiseppe Ferraro using the proper flour and products from Italy.
Buffet breakfast for hotel guests is also served here. Groups staying at the hotel have lunches and dinners here too. In the evening enjoy live Jazz and Blues with American pianist-singer. The restaurant has two connecting function rooms for cocktails, private meals for up to 40 pax.
CONFERENCE HALL
Angleterre can boast of one of the largest in the city conference hall in amphitheatre shape for 205 guests. Located on the ground floor with entrance from the light gallery it is a perfect venue for a conference, meeting or even a small concert program with piano recitals. The hall has a medium stage with large screen and all necessary equipment including 4-language system for simultaneous translation. Excellent acoustics, lighting and speaker system.
MEETING ROOMS
Light and elegant gallery decorated with white marble statues is, no doubt, the most beautiful feature of the hotel. Its small tables and armchairs is a nice and cozy place for a glass of wine or beer or for a light meal with a view to the magnificent St. Isaac's Cathedral. It runs along the whole facade of the hotel to the Conference Hall area, passing by souvenir shops and boutique and ending at the Astoria Casino and Night Club. In addition to the main conference room the hotel offers smaller meeting rooms (52-60 sq.m.) - "Bulgakov", "Esenin" and "Nabokov" rooms. They are located on the ground floor, 3rd and 4th floors of the hotel accordingly. 130 sq. m. large "Anna Pavlova" meeting room is located on the ground floor behind the "Borsalino" restaurant.
