Lake Onega is a lake in the north-west European part of Russia located on the territory of Republic of Karelia. It belongs to the basin of the Baltic Sea and is the second largest lake in Europe after Lake Ladoga. The lake is fed by about 50 rivers and is drained by the Svir River. There are about 1,650 islands on the lake. They include KIZHI, which hosts a historical complex of 89 orthodox wooden churches and other wooden constructions of 15th– 20th centuries. The complex includes a UNESCO World Heritage site KIZHI Pogost. The major city on the lake is Petrozavodsk (PZK).

Day One, Friday

Arrival to Petrozavodsk by overnight train 07:00 Train 12 from St. Petersburg (07:40) 08:55 Train 18 from Moscow (11:55)

Meet & greet by the guide at platform Buffet breakfast in the hotel next to the station. Transfer to the start of the safari Safety and steering instruction, training. Equipment is included.

Roundtrip snowmobile drive along the route: Petrozavodsk-Lake Onego-village South Yardvillage Lipovitsy – Island KIZHI Picnic sandwich lunch en-route Distance 40 km. Dinner in the authentic guest house on the island Russian Banya experience Overnight in the guest house with en-suite WC.

 

Day Two, Saturday

Breakfast Tour of KIZHI island Return by snowmobile to Petrozavodsk 80 km Picnic sandwich lunch en-route Dinner in city cafe Departure by evening trains 20:20 Train 17 to Moscow (13:40) 22:40 Train 11 to St. Petersburg (07:44)

Day Three, Sunday

06:24 Train 11 arrives in St. Petersburg. 08:55 Train 17 arrives in Moscow.

Travel period for winter activities lasts from December 01 to April 30 (weather permitting). Prices start from €700 per person excluding train and strictly depend on the number of guests.
